  • Have you ever wondered where all the electricity you have paid for is going?
  • Or what the cheapest and easiest ways to reduce your water use are?
  • Or how your household was performing in general?

A Perth Solar City home eco-consultation will provide you with these answers and more — for free!

A qualified team of eco-consultants, together with your family, will review your home and lifestyle, and suggest a range of ways that you can improve your energy efficiency and save money! You'll be doing the right thing by the environment too. They will also run through a Star Rating analysis, showing you exactly how your household performs compared to the Australian average.

We will provide you with a report detailing each recommendation that you felt were suitable to your specific living situation. Each recommendation will have its indicative savings potential associated, so that you can decide which ones to tackle first.

Our eco-consultants have knowledge on government rebates and will be able to guide you towards cost effective solutions.

The assessment will improve your understanding of:

  • solar power
  • greywater systems
  • rainwater tanks
  • insulation
  • solar hot water and more!

All you will need is one hour of your time, and you will be off on your home sustainability journey, one giant step closer towards reducing your bills and helping the environment.

Living Smart

The Living Smart service will be offered to 10,000 households in selected areas of Perth's Eastern region, from March 2010 onwards. Living Smart provides individually tailored information and advice to households, to enable them to be more efficient in their use of energy, water, car travel and waste disposal. Participants will cut their household bills and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

If your household is not lucky enough to get the call, then you can still join in by taking up the Living Smart challenge through a series of public workshops and courses in each of the six local Council areas. Details of course dates appear on www.livingsmart.org.au. You can also ‘help yourself' to practical advice on how to reduce your carbon footprint by logging onto www.transport.wa.gov.au/livingsmart.

Living Smart was developed by The Meeting Place, the City of Fremantle, Murdoch University and Southern Metropolitan Regional Council to support community sustainability. The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council and the Department of Transport are supporting Living Smart as part of the Perth Solar City project.
